A Family Portrait on Christmas Day

My mother has a guest house, and the Groebner family has been living there for a while now. My mom’s church asked her to house them when they came out from Minnesota in hopes of helping their youngest daughter, Katie Grace. Katie Grace suffers from a rare heart and lung disorder — pulmonary hypertension — that will eventually require a heart-lung transplant. (You can read more about it here.)

On Christmas Day, the Groebner family came over to spend the day with my family. Katie had just come back from the hospital the day before, and everyone was so happy to see her. My mother asked me if I would photograph their family while everyone was together, and I said of course!

They are a beautiful family, and my heart goes out to them.

  1. To think you took these so quickly and impromptu on such a cold day. Great Job Juliet. It is a nice way to make more people aware of Pulmonary Hypertension.
